Why Use a Thread Stand?

Have you noticed the experienced quilters around you using a thread stand and wondered why this notion is important?

Today we are going to share with you a little bit of thread education.



Thread on a cone is intended to come off the top of the cone, tension free. Thread on a cone should NOT feed off from the side. It adds too much drag to the thread. Thus adding to the term "What a drag".
We recommend using a heavy duty metal base thread stand that will not tip over during use.

    I love using this thread stand. It's just the bomb. I never have to mess with adjusting for the size of the cone or spool. The thread never tangles going through the tension discs. And I can see if there is a knot coming. Of course, if I used only Superior thread, that would never happen.

    Hey Bob and Heather,<br /> I bought my stand from you guys @ the Nashville show. I use it all the time and use Masterpiece thread. I have used a platic stand before and they are a pain. Now...if we could just get a bobbin to last as long as a cone?

    Will you be at the show in Columbus Ohio in June? I remember seeing you there in the past. I will have to order a spool stand on pay day.<br />Your thread is awesome and I agree with the others comments.

    I got a thread stand from you in Paducah. It has been a lifesaver. Don't have trouble with my thread anymore. Amazing how such a simple device can make sewing/quilting a much more pleasant experience. Got a metal stand for my friend recently. She had been trying to use the plastic one and had problems. Pays to get the metal stand.

    I've had a heavy metal thread stand for years and just love it! I cart it off to all my classes and sometime last year I lost the center thread spool holder. I've tried lots of replacements...i.e., wooden dowel, thermometer probe, etc. etc., and none of them really work. Do you have any idea where I could buy a replacement? Thank you!

    I use my thread stand atop my LongArm just behind the oiling wicks. I no longer have issues with my tension. Nancy in Idaho affixed hers with Plumbers Putty. I don't know what my husband used but it is still there and standing tall.

    Those of you who have this thread stand mounted on your long-arm, could you post pictures? What do you use to mount it, I see that Nancy in Idaho used Plumbers Putty.

    The thread stand is the bomb and I use it for many different things. I use it for couching threads when I am doing free motion couching. I use it for bobbin thread that comes on a cone so I can wind bobbins. I have even used it to sew or machine embroidery with large cones of thread. I am new to Superior Threads but so far I love them.
