Anasazi Ridge Petroglyphs

Posted: 21 May 2010 at 5:28 a.m.
One of the beauties of coming to the School of Threadology here in St. George, Utah is being able to see some of the surrounding sites when classes are over.

One afternoon when Pam Holland was here, I took her to see the Anasazi Petroglyphs that are located within a 15 minute drive from our home.

Several hundred symbols dot the rock formations overlooking the Santa Clara river.

Rock Art left by the Anasazi Pueblo Indians over 1,ooo years ago.

Historians have ascribed meanings to these symbols but no one knows for sure the exact translations. I think this one says, "use ONLY Superior Threads."

We walked among the large sandstone boulders and wondered what this area was like so long ago.

A wonderful way to spend a St. George afternoon, before heading out to dinner with our good friend Pam Holland.

Hi Marguerite, We would love to see you also as you are traveling through this summer. The petroglyphs are stunning. It's quite warm in St. George during the summer, so be prepared with a lot of water.
