Superior Spotlight: Charlotte Pittman

Posted: 13 October 2015 at 6 a.m.

Charlotte is one of our Superior University members.  She is 84 and still free motion quilts!  She created this quilt with Magnifico.  These blocks are absolutely darling and showcase her cute sense of humor:

"Do I really have to get up?"

Birdie One

"Where is my blue dress?"

Birdie Two

"What color shall I wear today?"

Birdie Three

"Can't do a thing with my hair"

Birdie Four

"Where is that child?"

Birdie Five

"Does he know I'm up here?"

Birdie Six

We always love to see the quilts and other projects created using our threads.  Please send any photos you’d like to share to

Karen, Charlotte is my grandmother. She did not use any software. I found those images online as photographs and sent them to her because she loves birds. She fell in love with them and decided to make a quilt. She had me print them and then she then traced the major outlines onto some sort of plastic stuff (I'm not a quilter, so I'm not sure what). She had the picture I had printed in front of her and she did it all on her own. Grandma doesn't use any software for anything she does. She has a really nice Bernina, but she says "it's dumb enough for me to use".

What embroideries software did you use? Would love those designs.
