Thread misbehaving? Try this easy fix

Posted: 15 March 2016 at 6 a.m.

Fix Thread Breakage

Your thread just broke.  Or is shredding.  Or is plain misbehaving.

We know the feeling.  Suddenly something easy and fun is difficult and frustrating.

Before taking your machine apart, giving up, or tearing up, try this one simple fix:

RETHREAD YOUR MACHINE

Issues occur when the thread is not securely on the thread path.  As you can see in the picture below, the thread may not be securely in the take up lever.

 Thread Not in Uptake Lever

The answer may seem too simple to be true, but any time you have an issue with sewing always, always, always try rethreading the machine first.

Thread in uptake lever

After carefully rethreading your machine, if you’re still experiencing issues please follow the steps in our Thread Troubleshooting Guide.

Hi, I would really appreciate any advice or help. I have a Bernina 830, 8 series, I am trying to embroider a design, design calls for wing needle 100, #60 weight or # 80 weight cotton thread, it is a heirloom design, my machine keeps giving me the no thread icon, after -+ 2 stitches, causing me great frustration, have tried rethreading a number of times, top and bobbin thread. i have tried #60 in bobbin and #80 in top and also 60 in bobbin and top. Thanking You Kindly.
