Arabesque

It feels good to finish a quilt!  I’m excited to show you Arabesque and I am thrilled with how it turned out.

Arabesque

What I love about this quilt:  first, the large stars.  Aren’t they amazing?  The full fabric line is used to create the stars (Arabesque by Quilting Treasures).  Second, the fabric.  I love the warmth of the gold tones that blend with the turquoise hues.

I chose this edge-to-edge swirl design because it complements the sashing and border.  I like that it breaks up the lines, but you can still clearly see the stars. My quilting thread:  OMNI #3040 Cookie Dough.  I chose this color because the light gold looked great in the gold and turquoise fabric.  I liked that it blended, not competed, with the turquoise.  If I had chosen a turquoise thread, I wouldn’t have liked how it looked on the white fabric.  This light yellow thread didn’t compete with the stars or the quilting motif, it simply accented and added dimension to the quilt.  If you haven’t tried OMNI, I highly recommend it!  It’s a strong, smooth-running work horse and can be used in the top and bobbin.  In addition, OMNI is fine enough that the quilt doesn’t appear “thready”.

If you love this quilt as much as I do, you can make your own!  We have the kit available now.

(As always, I used MasterPiece to piece and Bottom Line in the bobbin with my happily completed quilt.)
