Appliqué is decorative design made of one fabric sewn over another. There are several appliqué methods such as Hand Appliqué , Machine Appliqué , and Fusible Appliqué. Other options include Decorative Appliqué where variegated or high-sheen threads are used to show off the stitching (a satin stitch and blanket stitch are common stitches to use when decorative appliquéing). Invisible Appliqué entails a fine thread such as The Bottom Line, Kimono Silk, or MonoPoly to be used for stitching the piece onto the backing fabric and having the thread sink into the fabric unseen.
