Q: What is the Superior Univeristy?
A: Each month, we will send you a carefully designed project including a selected product. You will receive a simple pattern and easy-to-follow instructions to create a small project. Many projects will include a product or technique you may have never tried before. The focus is on learning a skill or technique and not on the finished project. These are simple projects that can be completed in a short time.
How long does it take? 30 to 90 minutes each month. Emphasis is on the technique, not the finished project. Our purpose is to help you increase your knowledge and use of threads and related products which will add more possibilities to your sewing projects.
Q: When is the last day I can sign up for Course 101? I see that you ship between the 15th-20th.
A: New enrollment starts every three months.
Q: When does it start?
A: You may enroll anytime to start with the next starting date (March, June, Sep., Dec.) Regardless when you enroll, you will start with Course 101 and progress each month. It is an open enrollment with no contract. No registration fees/federal excise taxes/dealer prep/fuel surcharges, or other fast-talking hidden charges.
Q: How long does it last? Is it a 12 month course or runs as long as you have project ideas?
A: We have 12 projects ready and are working on another 12. Participants may stop at any time because there is no requirement to continue in the University through the end. Our goal is to make this program so valuable that everyone will want to stay.
Q: My friend already started. Can I start now but be on the same track as she is?
A: If you request it, you can purchase past courses. Otherwise, you will start Course 101. Either way, you will not miss out on anything.
Q: How much does it cost?
A: Only $16.95 per month (including shipping to U.S. addresses) and a one-time Starter Kit fee of $29.95 (including shipping to U.S. addresses). International shipments incur postage fees.
Q: I live outside the United States. Can I still enroll in Superior University?
A: Absolutely! We have many international students enrolled in the University. We will ship out the new projects every month, or we can ship 3 projects quarterly to save on shipping. Request second method when signing up.
Q: Is it possible to get a picture of the finished projects you have in store for us? What if we want one lesson and not another?
A: Superior University is for those who will invest 30-90 minutes once a month to learn, relearn, or improve a sewing-related technique that will open new doors of creativity and pay dividends throughout the future. An interested student recently sent this request: "Please list the projects so I can choose only the projects I want to do." We thought about this and decided otherwise. This is designed like a university, not a trade school, and the goal is to learn a variety of subjects. Although an academic student may not like science or math or humanities or English, those subjects are necessary to graduate. There is value in learning them. Our goal is similar. You may think you have no interest in fusible thread or bobbin work or decorative threads or texturizing fabric or using silk thread but imagine what can happen if you learn new skills and a new world opens up before you? Our purpose is to teach and to help you learn and succeed. This is not a profit-producing project for us. We priced it at our operating cost (only $16.95 per month including shipping to U.S. addresses). We hope you will join us on our educational journey.
You will learn. You will succeed. Go Team Go!
Q: I am a novice sewer and have never sewn a "clutch purse" before. Will I be able to complete the projects included in Superior University without taking any formal sewing classes?
A: Absolutely! We have designed each course to be provided with detailed instructions so you will understand each step to take in order to complete your project. If at any time you find yourself questioning what to do next, please don't hesitate to call or email us.
Q: Is the Superior University available for stores?
A: Yes, the Superior University is also available for stores to teach as a monthly class. Contact Ricci for details.
