In Video #24, Bob Purcell (Chief Threadologist of Superior Threads) discusses prewound bobbins and the benefits of using a prewound bobbin. Prewounds hold 50-100% more than a bobbin wound on a home sewing machine. L-style bobbins are the standard prewound bobbin size for home machines.
