Superior has two lines of glow-in-the-dark threads. Both of our threads are made from a special blend of Polyester fibers which have been impregnated with a glowing dye agent. The natural color of the glow is the standard green color which is the most common for glow-in-the-dark toys and paints. The glow will last for a few hours and can be recharged over-and-over again by exposing it to light for a short period of time. Indoor and natural light will both recharge the glowing dye.
Our NiteLite glow-in-the-dark thread is popular for embroidery and quilting and it can be used in both home sewing and embroidery machines as well as commercial embroidery machines and longarm quilting machines. It is a 40 wt.3-ply thread. We recommend using a Superior Topstitch #90/14 for all home sewing and embroidery applications and a size 4.0 (#18) needle for longarm machines. NiteLite looks better when in a dense stitch pattern more than a single stitch, as more thread in a closer area means a more distinct glow. NiteLite is available in 6 colors which you can see in the image to the right. They do not glow the color they are dyed, as most of the glowing color is going to be a greenish-yellow.
SewGlow is a brand new, glow-in-the-dark thread created specifically for upholstery and heavy-duty sewing applications. As a thick Tex 240 (comparable to a #207 or #277 thread), Polyester thread with special glow-in-the-dark dye impregnated into the fibers, SewGlow looks like a standard white thread in the light. But in the dark, it's glowing brilliance shines bright. This thread is the first in the industry to achieve the strength of a bonded upholstery thread with the ability to glow in the dark. Available in white on a 100 yd or 250 yd cone, SewGlow is a fantastic thread to use for any custom stitching in a vehicle or furniture.
