Mid-February 2010 Newsletter

Special Birthday Edition. February 18, 2011

Part 1: We have heard from many of you that our new Top Thread Tension Gauge for longarm machines is solving many tension frustrations.  The perfect stitch is possible!  Thank you for sharing your success stories.  A few gauges were stuck on 0.1 when turned on and we’ve resolved 100% of those by giving the hook some firm tugs which resets it to zero.  It’s as if they needed to be worked in first. Please continue to give us feedback and share your success stories.

Part 2:  It's Bob's Birthday so we are having a 4-day special giving you a FREE GIFT.  See Specials below.

WHAT’S NEW (mid-February)

1. The Gammill Vision 26 Tension Guide Chart has been updated on our website.

2. We added a Tension Guide Chart for the Gammill Optimum (with or without Statler Stitcher).

3. We have added additional videos demonstrating the new Top Thread Tension Gauge.

4. Updated Price List is on our website.  Some almost top secret soon-to-arrive thread lines are also listed.

EDUCATION: Color   Color selection plays an important role in quilting and embroidery. It can add to or take away from the pattern.  We have seen many examples of the exact same pattern created in different colorways and have been amazed at the difference in appearance.  Different fabrics can make the same pattern appear as two totally different quilts.  Thread also plays an important role in our projects.  If we want the thread to blend, we select a fine thread; if we want the thread to be visible, we choose a medium or heavier thread, a high-sheen thread, or a variegated thread.
We take great care in photographing thread colors so we can provide the best possible online image.  Sometimes the color isn't exact or computer monitors distort the colors.  Of course the best solution is to have the thread color cards made with the actual thread but if you do not have those, here is the next best option:
Our website offers a wonderful tool called Designboard for color comparison. To use this feature, find the items you are interested in and add them to your Shopping Cart. Then click the Show Cart/Checkout link or the My Cart link at the top of the page.  You will see all the items in your cart.  Just above the items in your cart you will see this line: Go to your Wish List, Gift List, Designboard. By clicking on Designboard, images of the items in your shopping cart will appear.  You can move them around the screen, placing similar color items near each other to compare colors.  When finished, click go back to View Cart page. To delete items from your shopping cart, click the Trash Can symbol next to the item.

Helen Barnhart.  I use empty thread cones to wrap my binding on.  Makes it easy to sew binding without it becoming tangled or caught under my chair.
Bob's note:  Thank you Helen.  The cat won't like this idea.

I just got off the phone with a friend in Nebraska. She said that since early this morning the snow has been falling so heavily that it is nearly waist high. The temperature is dropping below zero and the wind is increasing, and her husband has done nothing but look through the kitchen window all day.  She said that if it gets much worse, she may have to let him inside.
