Friendship Circle

Posted: 28 May 2010 at 6:12 a.m.
Our congratulations goes to Georgette Kent and Cory Allender (St, George, Utah) in winning a Judge's Choice award for Friendship Circle at Road To California 2010.

61"X62"
In this collaboration quilt, Georgette did the piecing and Cory did the longarm quilting. The original design is based on the Royal Cross block by Sharyn Craig.
Georgette shared, "This quilt did not start out to be a show quilt. I originally took a class from Sharyn Craig and then had an idea in my mind of how I anticipated finishing the quilt. I made 12 quilt blocks. When I started putting the blocks together, I was not happy with the result so I started trying different layouts and fewer blocks until I was happy with the result. When I took the quilt to Cory to quilt, she thought it would be a good collaboration quilt."
Cory knew within the first 3 minutes how she wanted to do the quilting on Friendship Circle. "Quilts talk to me. This one came to me so fast and I never deviated from there on out." she said.
Cory put in over 70 hours of machine time, and that does not include the hours spent in blocking and binding.
A combination of Superior Threads were used in Friendship Circle: Highlights, Metallic, So Fine, with orange Razzle Dazzle for the couching. Bottom Line Lace White was used for the pebbling.
Thank you to Marilyn Karper for the photographs.

Hi Wendi, Thanks for the visit. Friendship Circle is even more stunning in person. We predict it will win many ribbons.
